EPC body approved in Scotland

Category: Energy Assessors (18.03.2009)

Energy assessors working with Stroma Accreditation have been given permission to produce Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) in Scotland.

The organisation signed a protocol agreement with the Scottish Building Standards Agency enabling energy assessors to provide EPCs for domestic and non-domestic buildings in the country.

Stroma already offers EPCs in England and Wales and is now providing routes to accreditation to its members in Scotland via qualification or Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning courses.

The body stated that current members will be able to receive additional training on Scottish procedures relating to insulation, double glazing and other measures surrounding energy performance.

iSBEM and other commercially available alternative software qualifications such as IES, DesignBuilder, TAS and Hevacomp can be undertaken by assessors wanting to take advantage of the accreditation and work in Scotland.

Meanwhile, the UK Green Building Council recently announced details of its Code for Sustainable Buildings, a new system designed to introduce clearer ways of measuring the impact of buildings on the environment.
