An eco-friendly office building in Wales is set to have a number of sustainable features, it has emerged.
According to Green Building Press, the building site - 3 Assembly Square at Cardiff Waterside - will feature high-end energy efficiency technology, including a biomass boiler and a rainwater harvesting system.
"This office building is the first step in the 550,000 sq ft development we are planning for Cardiff Waterside, so it is important the building sets high standards in terms of design and sustainability," said Joy McSmythurs, partner at investment and asset management firm Knight Frank.
She stated that as the future of the waterfront is "green", investment in the sustainable building will ensure long-term benefits in terms of finance and the environment.
The Western Mail reported today that under the coalition agreement One Wales, all new homes in the country will be carbon neutral by 2011 due in part to additional insulation and developments in sustainable building materials.
