A new low carbon training programme is enabling property developers and architects to learn how best to choose renewable technology for homes and other buildings.
EcoBuild reported this week that seminars offered by RES Heat and Power, which have been running since November, address a range of low carbon issues, including sustainable architecture and planning, as well as ground source and biomass heating and cooling.
Neil Turner of RES Heat and Power, which managed a 2007 event entitled Building-integrated renewable energy technologies, claimed that architects and consultants "are hungry for knowledge and advice about how to incorporate low-carbon technologies into their developments so that their clients' targets can be met".
The next RES event is scheduled to take place on March 7th in Hertfordshire, with a second event set for March 19th in Newcastle.
Today, David Rosser of the Western Mail suggested that the UK planning system currently poses the "biggest barrier" to renewable energy generation and said more needs to be done to meet the government's planned low-carbon targets.
