Investors have put more than $100 billion (£50 billion) into the renewables industry, according a report in the Guardian today.
Power companies are putting effort into developing renewable energy and car makers are opting for electrically operated vehicles and hybrids.
The report says the industry will benefit from the current downturn in the financial climate and that Scottish and Southern Energy is aiming to be the UK's leading provider of power through renewable energy.
And according to nebusiness.co.uk, the country's biofuels industry is gaining success with small companies who use or sell it.
It reports Middlesbrough based D1 Oils now focusing more on renewable fields in India and Africa to create oil which will be mixed with mineral fuel to be sold in the UK and Europe.
Sean Sutcliffe, chief executive of D1 Oils told nebusiness.co.uk: "The case for doing something to get a lower carbon footprint and a cheaper source of fuel has never been stronger."
